SAN RAMON, CALIF., December 17, 2019—For eight consecutive years, CooperVision employees have shown remarkable commitment and generosity by raising funds for Optometry Giving Sight’s World Sight Day Challenge. In 2019, those efforts generated an additional $170,000, pushing CooperVision’s cumulative campaign giving past the $1.2 million mark.

CooperCompanies matched employee gifts on a one-for-one basis, with additional donations from family, friends and business partners worldwide. This year’s funds represent the equivalent of providing eye exams for more than 34,000 children and adults.

“It’s wonderful to see how our CooperVision family comes together to support the World Sight Day Challenge,” said Daniel McBride, CooperVision President. “The passion and enthusiasm that CooperVision employees demonstrate each year for helping to improve eyesight for people in need is inspiring. I couldn’t be prouder of them and our collaboration with Optometry Giving Sight.”

In 2019, more than 35 CooperVision sites and teams hosted a variety of creative fundraising activities over a two-month campaign period to engage their fellow employees, bring awareness to the initiative, and generate donations. There was no shortage of diverse and fun team-building initiatives including bake sales, raffles, luncheons, auctions, games, wellness activities, family days, themed clothing days, charity runs and more.

In addition to its World Sight Day Challenge initiative, the company also supports specific Optometry Giving Sight-affiliated programs. CooperVision contributes funding through a patient rebate donation program in the United States, its LensFerry® Gives Sight program, and Europe’s One Bright Vision cause-related marketing program, which benefits communities in Africa and India, among other initiatives.

CooperCompanies’ philanthropic commitment has been recently expanded with the launch of Cooper Giving. Employees are now able to donate year-round to Optometry Giving Sight and March of Dimes, with Cooper providing a one-for-one match, up to $5,000 USD annually per employee.
